5 Popular Brands That (thankfully!) Invested in Website Redesign

Website design cycles through new design trends that emerge every few years. As technology evolves, it creates a new way of designing for the web. If your company’s first impression online doesn’t evolve with the times, you will lose out on valuable leads.

Design trends are about much more than the creation of beautiful websites. These website redesign trends are about adapting to consumer behavior. You must think about what your target audience wants from a web design experience, and at Hyperlinks Media we can deliver that experience for you.

Your Credibility is at Stake

Your website is a reflection of your business.  According to a recent study conducted by Stanford University, approximately 75% of users will make an assumption on the credibility of your business based on your website design. If your website is outdated, it may appear that your business does not have the budget to maintain your internet presence. If you want to attract quality customers, you need a website redesign at least every four years.

But Won’t it Confuse My Customers?

We know it can be daunting to think about completely revamping your entire digital presence, but rest assured, this is not uncharted territory. To prove to you that it can be done, let’s examine what a few major brand websites would look like if they never underwent a website redesign.

Adobe

Currently, some of the best designers in the world work for Adobe. The eye-catching designs and innovative techniques that blossom from this brand make it difficult to comprehend the look and feel of Adobe’s 1996 website. I shiver to think of what my beloved InDesign and Photoshop would look like if the company chose not to invest in website redesign over the years.

Apple

Yikes! It is hard to believe that a company that constantly pushes the envelop and breaks design barriers would have published a website that looked like the one below. However, it was 1998 and there were a lot of questionable trends evolving around this time. Can you imagine if Apple had decided it would never redesign because it didn’t want to confuse its core customers? Oh what a world that would be. I for one am thankful that they evolved into what they are today (do you love iOS 11 as much as I do?!).

Twitter

What would our President’s favorite social network look like if they chose to never undergo a website redesign? Feast your eyes! What would the Twitter wars look like? This is terrible, and I’m so glad that the beautiful blue and cute bird made its way into the design. I’m sure thankful for website redesigns!

Facebook

Welcome to Thefacebook. That’s right, even the wildly popular Facebook has undergone (many) website redesigns. I started using Facebook in 2005, so I actually sort of remember this outdated version. Yikes! I have to say, however, this looks a lot better than Twitter’s earliest versions.

YouTube

My mind is blown. YouTube was looking pretty rough before Google swept in to save the day. Can you imagine how we would watch tutorials on all the things if YouTube still looked like this disaster. Let’s all have a moment of silence to show thanks for website redesign.

Technology Changes Compromise Function

Now you know that it’s perfectly normal to undergo a website redesign, let’s take a quick look at why it’s important. Firstly, technology can compromise function, causing your old website to take a nosedive if the coding technology on the back end of your website does not change with the times.

As technology evolves, your website must evolve as well. The hosting environment where your website is stored also undergoes frequent updates, and so your website must change to meet those needs.

Website Redesign for User Experience and Mobile-Responsiveness

In today’s digital landscape, it is essential that your website is mobile responsive. Research into user experience shows that users want to have the same website experience on their mobile phones and tablets as they do on their desktop.

Users also want to have a reinforced idea of what your brand is about, so your branding initiative must be on point. You must evolve with not only the times, but also your brand. Your team will change, your business will change and your website must change with it. If you’re ready to get started, let’s chat about what our website redesign team can do for you.
